A Must-See Event

While stars, glitter, red carpets, and haute couture gowns fuel the collective imagination, it is the passion for cinema that truly sets the hearts of film lovers racing. Born in the post-war spirit of renewal, the festival was originally created to defend a free and artistic vision of the seventh art. It quickly evolved into a major cultural rendezvous—where landmark works are unveiled, careers launched, and legendary controversies sparked.

By the 1950s and 60s, Cannes had become the place to be seen for anyone who was—or aspired to be—a star, blending a festive, glamorous, and intellectual atmosphere. Since its introduction in 1955, the Palme d’Or has become one of the most coveted prizes in global cinema, standing alongside the Hollywood Oscars. Directors like Ingmar Bergman, Quentin Tarantino, and Jane Campion saw their careers propelled by this distinction—which, for the 2025 edition, will be awarded by jury president Juliette Binoche.

From May 13 to 24, the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration. It will open with an honorary Palme d’Or presented to Robert De Niro, followed the very next day by one of the most anticipated moments: the seventh installment of Mission: Impossible will screen out of competition, bringing Tom Cruise and the The Final Reckoning team to the iconic red carpet on Wednesday, May 14.

Because some adresses exist only in Cannes.

While social media and new formats continue to reshape the cinematic landscape, the Festival retains its aura—that of a place where cinema is reflected upon, debated, and celebrated. Every year in May, on the Croisette, glamour serves art as the spotlight turns once again to write a new chapter in the Festival’s storied history.

This major event on the Riviera’s cultural calendar would not shine as brightly without its exceptional setting: the city of Cannes itself, with its bay, beaches, grand hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and the worldwide prestige of the Croisette.

At the heart of this iconic gathering, the Cannes-based agency Magrey & Sons will, as every year, be available throughout the Festival to assist its French and international clientele with bespoke real estate projects.
